Caesars Palace has announced that James Beard Award-winning (it’s a big deal) Chef Michel Richard will bring a version of his popular Washington D.C. restaurant to Las Vegas.

The new restaurant, to be named “Central 24/7 by Michel Richard,” is scheduled to open in late summer of 2011 and will occupy the current Augustus Cafe space near the Caesars Palace hotel lobby.

Chef Michel Richard describes the planned menu at Central 24/7 as, “American favorites with a French accent.” The menu will feature items such as Richard’s popular burger, 72-hour short ribs, fried chicken, razor clam chowder and fresh oysters.

Central 24/7 will offer 24-hour dining in a 9,600-square-foot restaurant that will include an outdoor patio terrace. The restaurant will also feature a large lounge, complete with full bar. Now, do we have your attention?

The French-born Chef Richard has created a number of award-winning restaurants. He formerly owned Citrus in Los Angeles and currently owns Citronelle and Central (pronounced sen-TRAL), both successful restaurants in Washington, D.C. The chef also has a McLean, Virginia restaurant, Michel, that opened in 2010 inside the town’s Ritz-Carlton.

We can’t wait to see (and taste) what the chef has in store! The traditional Vegas hotel coffee shop is about to get Francophiled. Which we’re fairly sure isn’t a real word. But you know what we mean.
