Extra, extra! In New Interview, Britney Spears Says to Expect “Party Vibe” at “Britney: Piece of Me”
“Ooh La La,” indeed! Since announcing her Planet Hollywood residency, “Britney: Piece of Me,” Britney Spears can barely contain her excitement about her upcoming return to the stage on Dec. 27. She joined “Extra” host Mario Lopez just one day after last week’s groundbreaking announcement, which aired live from the middle of the Nevada desert.
“It was insane. I got 45 minutes of sleep the night before,” she said, adding details about her unexpectedly shaky helicopter arrival. After news broke, fans around the world have been clamoring for shreds of information about what to expect from the pop star who has seemingly done it all. The good news? In the roughly 90-minute show, Spears revealed she wants to get really, really close to the dedicated fans who attend.
“We wanted the feeling of it to be that when people come to see it, they’re in the show with me and they are really there with me, so we’re going to have a cool set up for them like that,” she said of the locale, which is designed as a combination theater and nightclub with bottle service. “So it’s like a party vibe, and the show is going to be spectacular.”
As far as balancing family life in Vegas, Spears says “We’re figuring that out. I think when you have kids and you’re working, it’s one of those struggle things that we all do, we just have to make it work.”
As tickets went on sale Friday, a recent Billboard.com interview with Kurt Melien, VP of entertainment at Caesars Entertainment, revealed some just-released details about the glitzy spectacle in a customized, 4,600-seat theater.
“This is a big Vegas-style production show, married with a dance club environment,” Melien said. “It’s 21 of her greatest hits, effectively, and some of the music from her eighth studio album. It’s a retrospective on some of the most iconic moments of her life, combined with the more contemporary stuff that she’s doing today.”
