Gordon Ramsay Officially Opens Steakhouse at Paris

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay was in rare form at Paris Las Vegas today as he officially opened his new restaurant, Gordon Ramsay Steak. Yes, we have exclusive photos. Haven’t you learned how this blog rolls by now?

Gordon Ramsay didn't disappoint!

Ramsay gave a lively cooking demonstration for members of the media, and expertly navigated a Q&A laced with Ramsayisms we can’t actually report due to Internet obscenity laws, many of which we just made up.

Actually, we found Gordon Ramsay to be as funny and charming as we’d hoped, tossing out good-natured zingers throughout his interactions with journalists and fans.

While Ramsay did a great job of keeping visitors in stitches, it was also clear he’s serious about the business of food.

He also seems to have a soft spot in his heart for Las Vegas, which tends to go over really well with Las Vegas blogs.

You know how some people have impish grins, but they're not impish? Gordon Ramsay isn't that.

Ramsay said he’ll be in Vegas every couple of weeks as Gordon Ramsay Steak establishes its footing, then expects to directly oversee his “brigade” at least monthly thereafter. He recently purchased a home in California, and quipped, “It’s great to be able to get here in 15 minutes. I have a private jet.” After a beat, he added, “No, I don’t. Seriously? I’m just kidding.”

Gordon Ramsay also took the opportunity to mention that the winner of the 10th season of his popular reality TV show, “Hell’s Kitchen,” will win a head chef position at Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris. The new season premieres June 4. A direct Vegas tie-in on “Hell’s Kitchen”? As if this blog weren’t already a huge fan! Remember when the contestants got a drop-in from Rio headliner’s Penn & Teller back in 2012? Check it out.

  1. I so enjoy watching Gordon Ramsey’s shows, especially the UK version of Kitchen Nightmares. I look forward to spending an evening of dining here when I get to Las Vegas next week!

  3. My husband and I ate at this restaurant on July 14, 2012. We were celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary. We made it known that it was our anniversary when the reservation was made. We were expecting an awesome dining experience. Boy, were we disappointed. Big Time!! We were dressed to the nine’s, no one else was. Shorts, t-shirts, thongs. The table was no bigger than a postage stamp. No tablecloth, just placemats and the music was so loud, we could not even hold a conversation with each other. On top of that, the food was so-so. Nothing to write home about. And not even a mention of our anniversary.
    We tell every one we can, not to eat there if they are expecting a fabuloius dining experience, because they won’t get it. We sent an email to John Phillipe when we got home and never even got a response. So much for customer care.

    HOSPITALITY WHEN TOLD WE DONOT HAVE BUS. CARDS CAUSE WE REALLY DONOT NEED THE BUS…..WHAT A SNOBBY PERSON TO BE MAKING RESERVATIONS……………..WE WERE VERY UPSET 8-25-12. WHAT A WAY TO TREAT THE PUBLIC ESP. IN VEGAS??????????????? WHY CHEF RAMSEY?

    Carol, My husband and I also went and were sorely disappointed for our 19th anniversary in June. We had to wait over an hour, after our reservations for a table, they had so wait in the lounge that was over crowded and the music was blaring, the diningroom wasn’t any better, the music was louder in there and it was dark.
    We would have been happier going to our regular haunt over at Outback, at least over there we can talk to each other.

    When I started it was about 8p in Las Vegas. I tried 6 times to call 702-946-4663 and got a busy signal. I finally got through and was asked to be put on hold. So far from first ring, hold to now it’s been 41 minutes. The call hasn’t been serviced once! Not impressed and quite surprised! I finally hung up! Ramsay: what waste of my time!

  18. Seriously, why would you tell somebody not to bother to call for reservations just because you couldn’t get through? I’m not being a GR apologist, but I called at 11:00 a.m. for res. for two at 8:30 and the phone was answered on the third ring, and my info was courteously taken. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to take advantage of our reservations due to a death in the family, but hopefully we will in October.

    Presentation was great, food was excellent. Huge Ramsey fans!
    Atmosphere was too loud to hear what waiter was describing.
    Had reservations for a couple months in advance, stated it was my husband’s birthday. They could not find ONE candle for his desert.
    Four hundred dollar dinner should have been worth one candle.
    They appear to be targeting a younger crowd than we would expect for a restaurant
    of that caliber. We are forty something.
    Had dinner on October 11, 2012 at 7:30pm in Vegas.

    Gordon Ramsay Steak is a very modern, upbeat, trendy Las Vegas dining environment. The food is delicious, but very expensive. All items are a la carte. The tab for my birthday dinner was $275 without appetizers or desert and we only ordered 2 cocktails. If you wish to dine @ Gordon Ramsay Steak, prepare to open your wallet. This is a fun place to party, but not suitable for a romantic evening.

  25. Everyone is different in what they’re looking for in fine dining. Carol writes below that there wasn’t even a table cloth, just placemats and the table was so small… We prefer a more ‘upscale casual’ ambiance and the handsome wood tables w/ placemats were very upscale & comfortable, we never found the table to be too small for the two of us either. Carol also mentioned they were dressed to the nines and others were no where near dressed up — that’s how this day & age is & it’s Vegas as well. People don’t really dress up anymore. We were dressed up but others weren’t – we don’t care, once they did down they are paying guests just like us — Another below writes of not being able to get a rez, we walked by on Dec. 22nd and asked if there was anything for Christmas day.. yes, in fact, there was a rez for 5:30 – perfect, we took it ! The entire evening was amazing, when we arrived and sat down we enquired how long we would have (we were eating early & others would be coming after us) the response was “take as much time as you like, there’s no rush…”) We had the tasing menu – the entire meal was AMAZING, the main was the Beef Wellington (we know why he’s known for it now) and although dessert was Caramel Apple Cake (Delish) I asked it we could get 1 of the apple cake & 1 of the Sticky Toffee Pudding ( O.M.G !!!) As you can tell, the entire meal, NO, not just the meal – the entire experience was fabulous! Thank you to Gordon Ramsay for his high standard of excellence AND the entire team inclucing the Sommelier (Thomas) who helped us choose a couple of wonderful 1/2 bottles of wine, seeing as we didn’t do the full wine pairings with the taster menu. It was more than we have ever paid for a dining experience (we eat out a lot) and we also bought a drink of choice for the server, chef & sommelier – what’s a few more bucks more to show our appreciation :) Stellar ! (I went to the washrm, 1 of the courses was brought – they saw I wasn’t there so snapped it up & ran down the stairs to the warmer, I arrived back @ table 2 minutes later and ‘voila’ – they were placing the plate in front of me — my husband was mesmerized by how fast they were making everything happen, the attention to detail was incredible ! )

  26. is that all? our tab was $600 for 2 people ($145 each for tassting menu) 2 1/2 bottles of wine, another single glass of wine and a drink ea. for server, chef & sommelier for their fabulous service .. tax & tip $620 We’re not rich but the experience has made us richer :)
